about
From the album 'Ganderflanking'*. For forty years Sid has been performing monologues and songs with a West Country style. Hailing from Holt, a small West Wiltshire village, his material uses the old west country dialect & much of his work is shot through with real characters and incidents, whether it be getting hammered at the village hall dance, having his pint pinched while watching Bristol City. Tales of the young Sid & his nemesis Fatty McCogan has them lusting after local girls they'll never get near. Sid doesn't take life too seriously so the tall tales and silly songs will all hopefully raise at least a smile.
Either alone with his ukulele, or with his pick up band gamely keeping up behind him, the album is rustic, quaint, funny, reflective, & above all crafted. The 12 songs & 2 monologues featured here are the result of performing these tunes at folk clubs, festivals, or, simply in the local pub, where the audience knows they will have a great time, such is the word about Sid.
RECORDED IN HOLT, WILTSHIRE SUMMER 2014. Recorded by Sid & Rob Dady, mastered at Bentham Studios, Purton, Wiltshire by Dug Wolfsohn.
*An old Wiltshire word for sitting about, doing nothing in particular.
